I'm excited to share some hidden gems in Lifeline that you might not know about. These legacy options can add extra depth to your productivity tracking.

Turn On Legacy Options

As shown in the video above, you can access the following features by turning on the option “Show Legacy options in Preferences” in Lifeline’s dropdown menu under “Developer options.”

⚠️ The Developer options menu only shows up when you hold down the ⌥ (option) key while pressing the Lifeline menu bar icon.

Once you have this option turned on, you’ll see the features below in a section called “Legacy” in Preferences.

🌟 Rate Your Sessions

This feature allows you to rate each of your work sessions or meetings on a 1-5 star scale. It's a flexible tool that you can use to track various aspects of your work, such as focus level, value created, or overall productivity.

When enabled, you'll see a star rating option in the "Review stats and activities" panel. You can assign stars to individual sessions, and Lifeline will calculate and display your average star rating for the day, week, month, or year. This can help you identify patterns in your productivity over time.

The star ratings are also included in your data exports, allowing for more detailed analysis. You could, for example, import this data into an AI tool like ChatGPT to look for trends or insights in your work patterns.

🏆 Display Productivity Points

By selecting “Display score information in Lifeline” in Preferences > Legacy, you turn on Lifeline's points system. You'll see your productivity score displayed in the expanded Lifeline bar and in your history view.

The scoring system is designed to encourage good work habits. You earn one point for every minute of focused work, and additional points for taking proper breaks. There are also bonus points and penalties based on your work patterns — details on the exact calculations here.

💡 For an extra motivational boost, enable the option to show points being earned in real-time during your work sessions.
